Creating Your Own Finger Labyrinth

Drawing a seven circuit, or Cretan, labyrinth like the one shown above in our web page banner is much easier than it might appear to be.  You don't  need any special artistic talent or fancy tools, just a clean piece of paper and a pen.

First, let’s start by drawing a “seed pattern”, the basic starting place of the classic seven circuit labyrinth.  Here is a classic labyrinth with every circuit shaded out except the seed pattern so that you can visualize the whole process.

 The Seed Pattern:

Start by making a cross in the center of the page.  Then in each intersection of the cross draw a small right angle. Inside each right angle, draw a small dot.  This is your seed pattern.  We’ll connect all these points to make our classic labyrinth.

 Connecting the seed pattern points:

First Connection:

Now connect the top of the upper right angle with the top of the cross.

Adding The Other Connections:

Now we will connect all the other points with each other to form the seven circuits of the labyrinth.  We’ll go down the right side of the seed pattern, connecting each point with the first open point to the left of it, working our way around the labyrinth.

You are finished!  To use your labyrinth, start at the bottom opening and trace the circuits (or paths) around into the center of the labyrinth, pausing in the center to pray, meditate or think, and then trace your way back out again.  You can also use some of the exercises found under our Healing or Peace Labyrinth  pages if you would like.
